Faceoffs are the “official” way to 1v1 another player on Santoria. There are two types of FaceOffs, Friendly, and With Stakes.
Friendly FaceOffs will not result in the loss of a life for the loser, and the totem that they drop will have a 30 minute protection period. This is the default type, and you'll typically want to do this when dueling teammates/allies/in tournaments.
With Stake FaceOffs will result in the loss of a life for the losing player. After the player is killed, their totem will also not have a protection period, effectively giving the winner the loser's loot.
Neither type of FaceOff will result in a reputation change, positive or negative.
In order to start a FaceOff you need to be within 20 blocks of another player, then run /faceoff duel {PLAYER} {"true"/"false" (Whether the faceoff is friendly)}
.
This will create a FaceOff centered on the player that ran the command, the player challenged can then run /faceoff accept
or /faceoff reject
to accept or reject the FaceOff.
Either party can also run /faceoff cancel
any time before the FaceOff starts to cancel the FaceOff.
After the other player accepts, each player will see a green beam that marks their starting point (If you can't see it try moving upwards a bit). Each player has to make their way to their respective beam, at which point they can run /faceoff ready
. When both players are ready, the FaceOff will start.
During a FaceOff the participants are limited to a 30 block radius circle around the center point (where /faceoff duel
was ran). Exiting this area will inflict Wither I on the offending party, and moving even further out (an extra 5 blocks) will inflict Wither II.
The participants are also only able to interact with each other, any players that enter the arena will be made invisible to the participants, and be unable to interact with them.
The FaceOff will last until either one of the players dies, surrenders, or the 30 minute time limit is reached.
